Heart of Darkness
First of all ; I want to start with Conrad’ s hard of darkness to be honest I couldn’t understand what exactly does the writer give a message , maybe he doesn’t want to tell us a complete story instead he tells us the story of a journey and pilgrims but their journey’s destiration is either the forest or it is a journey to human soul, because there is a sentence on page is ‘’185’’ we penetrated , deeper and deeper into the heart of darkness , It was very quiet there ‘’ I think with this sentence the writer (Conrad) talks about spritüal journey.
Secondly ; Lovecraft wrote ‘’ Deliliğin Dağlarında’’ in this story he tells us a journey to , but this time the aim of the journey is to discover some mountains and old civilizations , in this story Lovecraft describe the view with too many details at the same time it is very difficult to imagine this old civilization. While I was reading the story I thought something was wrong so I read it again. Still I think the writer talks to himself not to us as reader what I mean is that , For example ; on page ‘’76’’ there is a paragraph with a lot of details the details are about plants and architecture , but these details don’t help us to imagine what this building looked like as a result I feel that this book was written for the writer himself not for readers he is like talking himself loudly.
The last story is J.G Bollards the Athrocity Exibition I haven’t finished every story it is not a classical book there are many seperate stories. For example; a story’s title is ‘’was my husband a doctor or a patient ‘’ Another stories title is pirate radio there is no connection between these stories so it is easy to read but also difficult to understand there is no begining middle and end.
All in all ; these three stories are different from each other but all of them are not traditional stories the writers are playing with the words a lot. In the first to stories there is a journey but this journey seems both psychical and spritual I can tell that. They are also about human psychology. It is not important the journey is in Africa or Antartica human is human everywhere.
